responsibility.Job Description:The Data Center Facilities
Technician is responsible, as part of a team, for ensuring that all
electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the
data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both
planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective
work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Facilities
Technician primarily interacts with Data Center Operators (DCOs),
clients, and vendors. Data center equipment that supports
mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
This equipment includes, but is not limited to, emergency diesel
generators, electrical switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers,
cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs,
and building automation systems, and a basic understanding of this
equipment would be preferred.The Facilities Technician also
provides comprehensive data center white space support for IT
infrastructure, which may include monitoring, troubleshooting,
reporting, and day-to-day maintenance - all of this being
site-dependent and as per the service level agreements with our
clients. Facilities Technicians are also responsible for using
event monitoring and management systems to provide notifications
and escalations to stakeholders during service
outages.Responsibilities:Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to
abnormal conditions in facilities systemsComplete planned and
ad-hoc preventive maintenance work assignments requiring the skill
and direction of several engineering, mechanical, and maintenance
tradesConduct periodic inspections of building systems, i.e., HVAC,
electrical distribution, maintain mechanical equipment rooms to
ensure clean and safe conditionsRapid response, investigation, and
management of indoor emergency situations and air quality
complaintsHave a complete working knowledge of creating, closing
and tracking "work requests" (WR). Initiate or respond to work
orders, follow-up and verify completion of workMonitor
performance/note deficiencies of service contractors and recommend
changes as necessary --- Perform other related duties and
responsibilities as assigned by managementSupports the delivery of
data center services including colocation, telecommunications
services, and deployment of additional services to customers and
internal business systems.Acts as an operational contact for data
center customers, vendors, and carriers as it relates to
colocation, connectivity, and network products and services.Carries
out tasks under the direction of the Network/Engineering
Infrastructure Manager and IT Manager necessary to support internal
networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone
systems.Conducts activities inside IT and telecommunications rooms
or cabinets such as the installation of IT and network hardware,
making or running patch cables, and verifying or testing cable
paths.Coordinates and oversees access to and work within the
facility with third-party contractors, vendors, and carriers
related to structured cabling installation, circuit delivery and
equipment installations in IT and telecommunications rooms and
customer space.Supports offsite points-of-presence at remote
locations and aids in operations, administration, and maintenance
of infrastructure, network equipment, and tasks related to the
delivery and support of network services.Qualifications:A minimum
of 5 years of directly related experience in the operation,
installation, and maintenance of data center critical equipment,
building systems with in-depth technical understanding and
knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and
control systemsHigh school diploma or general education degree
(GED) and two+ years' experience in electrical systems,
refrigeration and/or HVAC. Or equivalent combination of education
and experience.Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems
used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers,
Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units,
Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC units.Good observation
skills and problem-solving ability.Physical Requirements:Ability to
Lift over 50lbsAbility to bend and kneel for extended periods of
timeAbility to climb ladders and access compact spaces.Color
perception is necessary to perform certain critical aspects of the
jobMay be required to workday, evening or night shifts, weekends,
