We're looking for an experienced, dynamic Design Group Lead to guide our innovative Architecture team in Maryland. You'll have an opportunity to lead and grow a small project team of architects who design life-changing facilities. Ability to mentor others is crucial, as you'll work to develop and retain this talented team.
As an experienced architect in the life sciences industry, you'll develop and assure implementation of standards and tools and ensure department output is on target - meeting or exceeding quality, compliance, performance, and project goals and standards. With the support of the Director and the team, you'll manage department revenue growth and labor efficiency, resulting in delivery of on target gross margin profits. You'll also develop new business, as you prepare and support proposals, presentations, and related marketing materials.
Based in Germantown, MD, you'll work with the Director of Architecture and the HR team to recruit and retain talent and develop staffing plans to meet business plans. You'll also oversee manpower planning to assure efficient assignment of resources on multiple, concurrent projects. Your team of designers and architects will be excited to learn from you as you enthusiastically share your knowledge and provide them with training and career development opportunities.

Qualifications & RequirementsREQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree (NAAB Accreditation preferred), AIA/NCARB Membership/Accreditation preferred
  • Architectural Registration Required, must be capable and willing to uphold "responsible control"
  • Significant Life Sciences industry experience including planning, designing and construction of a diverse range of engineering projects
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Analytical thinking, structured problem-solving skills, ability to communicate effectively with teams and clients, team building, and strong work ethic. Must be able to build rapport with project staff.
  • Exceptional experience and knowledge of process, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, plumbing, fire protection system design and how these systems integrate into architectural design.
  • Possess a general understanding of BIM workflowsCONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY
    • Travel duration, if any, is based on project complexity and location.
    • This position is a safety sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research or other "non-administrative" areas.
