Position Overview Competitive Intelligence is an integral part of enabling iboss' go to market as well as assisting in roadmap planning. Good competitive intelligence at both the technical and strategic level competitive is crucial for competitive positioning. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting detailed technical analysis of iboss's primary competitors. This includes gathering information from publicly available resources, synthesizing it into an analysis and disseminating information in multiple formats. You will be working closely with a cross-functional team comprising of product marketing, product management, development, sales, and corporate strategy. The focus of this position is outward: to equip our sales and channel teams with the information they need to win. This is the first hire in this function so the opportunity to grow this sole contributor role into running a small CI team is envisioned. Responsibilities * Responsible for all outbound aspects of competitive analysis for a given product line; including * Disseminating intelligence and recommendations while maintaining complete objectivity * Evaluating the market landscape and monitoring changes in market dynamics * Collaborating with product marketing to develop sales-focused competitive information to assist their sales efforts * Manage the internal competitive portal * Create partner consumable competitive battle cards * Synthesizing data and identifying implications of competitive influences on iboss * Work with technical competitive analysis to document what the learn and use to inform product development on competitor technology * Assist with and participate in product launches, product demonstrations, partner/customer conferences, and strategic planning sessions * Expect less than 20% travel Qualifications * Hands-on experience installing and/or maintaining security solutions * Experience with computer networking, TCP/IP stack, and a variety of protocols (i.e., HTTP, SMTP) * CISSP or other industry certifications * Experience analyzing competitors and/or competitive intelligence certifications (i.e., CIP) * Member of Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) * BS / BA degree or equivalent work experience * 8+ years of experience working in the information security industry in a technical capacity * Strong technical knowledge with a genuine curiosity to learn new technologies * Self-starter with a team-oriented work style * Previous experience managing CI or other employees * Ability to manage, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision * Outstanding written and verbal presentation skills with proven ability to effectively present to a * wide variety of audiences * Proficient with Microsoft Office tools Benefits * Health, Vision, Dental * 401K with company match * Paid Time Off (PTO) * Commuter Benefits * Short term and Longtermly Disability * Company paid holidays * Supportive and FUN work environment * Fantastic quarterly company events The duties and responsibilities described above are essential functions of the job.
