DESCRIPTIONAmazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (DCEOT) to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team.This unique opportunity is a paid, full time cohort style training program. You will begin with instructor led training in a classroom setting followed by On the Job Training (OJT) where you can learn & grow with the experts! Once you have completed training, you will be offered the opportunity to apply your skills in a data center environment as a full time Data Center Engineering Operations Technician.Classroom and OJT will take place in Herndon, VA for the duration of 10 months. The end roles will be in either Herndon, Chantilly, Haymarket, VA; Aurora, COThis position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess an active Top Secret security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with polygraph and satisfy other security related requirements.This committed group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. Specifically, this team works to ensure that the data center's MEP operates at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers.The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (DCEOT) is responsible for operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center. The DCEOT serves as a technical resource to support Amazon within its owned and operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. DCEOT's are also tasked with driving innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities. DCEOT's are Amazon's front line responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS's, PDU's, AHU's, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD's, and building automation systems.Responsibilities:o Maintain mechanical and electrical equipmento Assist root cause analysis of equipment failureso Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLAo Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing worko Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipmento Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipmento Able to work a 12 hour shift (including both day and night shifts; rotating 3 to 4 day work weeks)o Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflowsPhysical Requirements:All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodationso Walk job sites in uneven terrain.o Work at heights and from ladders.o Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts for 40 pounds or more.o Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment.o Reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance.o Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.o Perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired.o Perform extended site rounds that could include long distances of walking and long periods of time being away from a desk.o Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects.o Push or pull heavy objects into position.o Work in a noisy environment.o Works shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts).o Work at depths, such as under raised floors.o Work support could include travel to more than one site location (travel less than 25% of time).Here at AWS, we embrace our differences.
