CGI Federal is seeking a Mainframe Systems Engineer to support enterprise z/OS environments, perform software installation and maintenance, and ensure performance, stability, and reliability of mission critical mainframe infrastructure for a large federal agency. This position is located in Baltimore, MD Your future duties and responsibilities: . Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade z/OS and related mainframe subsystems. . Support mainframe software products including WebSphere for z/OS, middleware components, and system utilities. . Perform SMP/E maintenance, system builds, patching, and compatibility assessments. . Monitor mainframe system performance and perform tuning, troubleshooting, and workload optimization. . Support integration between mainframe and distributed systems where needed. . Provide diagnostic analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action plans. . Document system configurations, maintenance procedures, and operational processes. . Collaborate with application teams and infrastructure groups to support deployments and modernization activities. Required qualifications to be successful in this role: . Strong experience administering IBM z/OS environments. . Hands on experience with WebSphere on z/OS and related middleware. . Expertise with SMP/E installation, maintenance, and software lifecycle operations. . Proficiency with JCL, TSO/ISPF, RACF, JES2/JES3, and mainframe utilities. . Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for mainframe performance and system errors. Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required: . Experience in large federal or enterprise mainframe environments. . Familiarity with mainframe to cloud or modernization initiatives. . Knowledge of REXX, CLIST, or automation tooling for mainframe operations. CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $56,600.00 - $139,300.00.
