Will Do: Guidehouse Digital is currently seeking a mid-level
Database Specialist who will work as a member of the System
Monitoring Team. This Database Specialist (Administrator) will work
with the Microsoft SQL Server, Database, that serves as the back
end for monitoring tools. The primary database is for SolarWinds
Orion Platform, SolarWinds Enterprise Operation Center, and
SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer. Currently the Monitoring
team has multiple instances across the United States.
- The Database Administrator (DBA) will maintain all the
databases for the System Monitoring team both in production and in
development.
- Tune the Databases for peak performances according to the best
practices worked out with SolarWinds engineers.
- Work with the PaaS and Security teams to ensure the Databases
are fully STIG compliant and have security vulnerabilities
minimized.
- He/She is expected to be fully versed in SQL queries including
but not limited to Case, joins, distinct, count, round etc.
- DBA is expected to quickly pick up SWQL (SolarWinds Query
Language) which is a scaled down read-only version SQL
- Provide input on how to monitor databases as a whole using
monitoring tools for the enterprise.
- Providing technical input for policies and procedures, and
maintaining accurate documentation on those
policies/procedures.
- Adhering to Change/Configuration Management procedures and
policies.
- Properly estimating work efforts and technical challenges
(scoping projects).
- Assist in creating the SWQL queries used in creating SolarWinds
dashboards and reports.
- Research and investigate problems, diagnose and provide
resolution or viable solutions for hardware and software issues;
appropriately escalating and reporting recommendations clearly and
effectively to management and team.
- Work in a fast paced environment with flexibility for
occasional non-business hours (evenings and weekends), along with
prioritizing and juggling multiple projects.
- Work productively in a team environment and participate as a
positive and cooperative team members.What You Will Need:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET federal security
clearanc
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or
related degree program; OR, sufficient demonstrated technical
experience and/or current IT Certification may be substituted for
formal education.
- Active CompTIA Security+ Certification
- 3-5 years IT engineering experience supporting projects and
systems of similar size, scope and technical complexity.
- MS SQL

- DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) What Would

- An ACTIVE and CURRENT SECRET federal security clearance
