POSITION OVERVIEW
Xator is seeking a junior engineering discipline to serve as a Technical Writer/Researcher to join a fast paced, cross-functional Counter Unmanned Aircraft System (CUAS) project team assigned to identify best of breed capabilities to meet the clients CUAS requirements. The Technical Writer/Researcher -will assist the Solutions Development Project Manager in documenting a compendium of CUAS capabilities. The Technical Writer/Researcher will review OEM literature, meet with OEM representatives, conduct paper analysis and evaluations of their stated capabilities, and document paper assessments in report format. The Technical Writer/Researcher will evaluate capabilities and components across the entire CUAS kill chain and work with experienced systems engineers to design an integrated system of systems solution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Assist in defining system architectures and integrating schedules among subsystem developers
Develop strategies and materials for transition of systems to operators.
Assist in responding to tasks quickly and analyzing complex technical problems.
Reviews and produces a variety of written documents including memoranda and summary reports
Presenting information and briefings to senior managers orally and in writing
Engages with industry and maintains awareness of emerging CUAS technologies
Attends conferences, demonstrations, and test events; and documents observations from said events
Establish and maintain a compendium of CUAS capabilities and CUAS component performance
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required or 8yrs of applicable experience
Experience in the following areas
Experience with requirements generation and specifications development
Ability to work collaboratively to solve problems within a cross-functional development team
Knowledge of Agile development and systems engineering processes
Experience effectively and professionally communicating technical and program related information to multiple stakeholders and adherence to established communications plans.
Candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities in dynamic, politically sensitive environments ensuring customer expectations are managed.
Experience engineering the integration of disparate systems
Specialized Knowledge/Skills Requirements
Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Ability to work both independently and within small teams
Strong time management and organization skills
Ability to complete and accept accountability for required reports and presentations
Ability to establish and data mine a database
Exceptional written communication ability
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Full-time 40 hours a week
Travel: -30% to support industry engagement and system assessments.
Physical requirements can include walking, climbing, crawling through small spaces, and standing or sitting for long periods of time.
