Job Description Job Description Job Summary: The Dental Director
works under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and is
responsible for full compliance with all applicable federal, state,
local and health center rules, regulations, protocols and
procedures governing the practice of dentistry and the clinical
provision of dental care as well as those relating to, but not
limited to, personnel issues, workplace safety, public health and
confidentiality. Role & Responsibilities: Examines individuals
requesting care, diagnosing their dental/oral conditions,
prescribing, and carrying out, or directing others in carrying out
as appropriate the scope of service, appropriate dental/oral
treatment, or referring individuals for specialty consultation or
treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and
guidelines. Educating individuals and the community on oral health
related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health
related disease prevention. Develop a service delivery model to
enable efficient, quality services to the community Establish
standards of performance and quality control Complete provider
reviews to present to Peer Review to ensure clinical staff
performance and quality of care meet accepted practices Coordinate
staff recruitment, development, and training Resolve conflicts
Manage utilization Allocate resources Assist Senior Leadership with
the planning for expansion of services as needed Ensure completion
of customer service and patient satisfaction surveys Maintain
internal and external communications related to mission and vision
Develop and update policies and procedures Monitor and manage
financial viability of the oral health program Participate in
Leadership Team meetings Provider Performance Reviews Serve as
member on the Continuous Quality Improvement Team for the Health
Center Essential Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of primary dental
care in outpatient settings knowledge of the principles and
practice of modern dentistry as related to public health
organizations and community health programs; and current social and
economic problems pertaining to public health and their impact on
primary health care. Qualifications & Education Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited dental school; Doctor of Dental
Surgery or Dental Medicine License to practice Dentistry in the
state of West Virginia 3-5 years’ experience, completion of an
accredited general practice residency program 3 years of clinical
leadership desired but not required.
