Registered Nurse (RN) | Operating Room Location: Ranson, WV Agency: Mindlance Health Pay: $2,590 per week Shift Information: Days - 4 days x 10 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Mindlance Health to find a qualified OR RN in Ranson, West Virginia, 25438! ID: 75481190 Shift: 10H Days Four 10-hour shifts 6:45-5:15 M-F, Call nights and weekends, ACLS, BLS, PALS Description: Unit only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU systemDrivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facilityPrevious perm candidates must be gone for 2 yearsPrevious travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 yearsIndividual unit requirements listed in pulse apply.Travel teams must be submitted together in 1 emailWe are only permitted to submit 2 candidates per opening, if the position is at max, we will hold on to the submission if a spot opens upCOVID VACCINE REQUIRED: Fully vaccinated means either 2 shots of Moderna or Pfizer or 1 shot of J&J; If a traveler wants to decline based on a Medical or Religious reason, please have them fill out the appropriate Exemption Form and email it to the address on the form. These should be done ASAP as they have to go through a council to be approved or deniedWill not approve any blocked scheduling requests. (updated 7/2025 MS)UnitOR (Cost Center - 72) suitesThey have 4 Rooms - 3 OR Suites & 1 procedure room - everyone comes through the same PreOp of cases per day The number of cases can vary. Tues/Thurs can be anywhere from 20-22 cases/day, MWF 6-14 cases/day Certs/Tech certified "RN's: BLS, ACLS, & PALS OR Techs: BLS is Required. CST is highly preferredNOTE: They prefer candidates with prior travel experience; however, will consider 1st time travelers as long as they have strong experience in similar OR's. "Ratios"1:1 Usually 2 Or Techs/RN/Room"EMREPICCharge NurseCharge nurse 24/7 OR techs YesWeekend Requirement - RN's The weekend rotation is usually 1 weekend every 6-7 weeksWeekend Requirement - CST's(same as RN's)Call Requirement - RN's Call is usually about 3-4 call shifts/month. If it's your turn to take weekend call, Fri/Sat/Sun would count as 3 call shifts for the month. Manager said that they don't get called out that much. Most of their call time tends to be at the end of the day & rarely goes past 7 pm. If someone has to stay late, it is usually at the end of the day. This could happen maybe twice/week on their heavy ortho days. For example, they only had 1 case on the weekend the entire month of February. They rarely get called. Call is very easy here. Call shifts are 7a-7p Mon-Fri. 24 hours Sat and Sun. The weekends are rotated with a weekend call every 7-8 weeks (approximately). On average four to five 12-hour call shifts and one weekend in an eight week period.Call Requirement - CST's (same as RN's)What is call response time?30 minute response time - but must be dressed & ready to work within 30 minutes.HolidaysHolidays are covered by call Scrub Color/ ProvidedScrubs are provided TelePhillips VentsYes Surgeon on call hoursAfter hours & on weekendsIV TeamNo IV TeamRT 24/7RT is in-house 24/7Pharmacy 24/7Pharmacy is not in-house 24/7 - Also have Pyxis ShiftsStaff works 4, 10's/week. The OR is open M-F 645 - 5:15. Closed on holidays & weekends except for call.FloatingNot for travelers; however, if there was the opportunity & it was within their scope they would allow this (Example: vaccine clinic, etc.) Floor specific orientation3 shifts with a preceptor in the department after general hospital orientationCommon types of cases They have a very robust total joint program. A lot of total joints - hip, knees, shoulders, ROSA robot (run by Reps), a lot of sports medicine, arthroscopies, non-complicated fractures, some IM nails, ORIF ankles, wrists, ACL repairs, just started doing carpal tunnel w/ micro-knife. They are very innovative - good equipment & resources. A lot of eyes: cataracts. A lot of general cases - the biggest they do are bowel resections. A lot of scopes (40%), EGDs, gallbladder, appy's, breast biopsies, mastectomiesThey have 3 general surgeons, OBGYN - C-sections, Hysterectomies (usually go home), Urology: kidney stones, plastics (breast reductions/implants, surgeon is a hand specialist, lacerations, dog-bites), ENT- not w/ WVU but comes every-other-months (tonsils, sinuses, tubes, etc. No complicated fractures are sent out to higher trauma levelScrubbing required - RN's NoAdditional Notes"They are very traveler friendly - People are often extended. The manager is very focused on this department being a great place to work. CNM: Ask questions about their dependability & note on prescreen: What would your last manager say about your attendance & dependability?"
