Job Description Join our team of Life Changers! /n /n UPMC is
hiring a Full-Time, Invasive Cardiac Technologist to support
hospital in York. /n /n The schedule is four, 10-hour shifts (7 am-
5:30 pm) or five, 8-hour shifts (8 am-4:30 pm) /n Rotational on
call evenings, weekends and holidays requiring a 30-minute response
time. /n /n $10,000 sign on bonus w/ a commitment of 2 years for
external new hires /n /n New graduates are encouraged to apply! /n
/n Purpose: Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not
requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of
technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity
and initiative. Responsibilities: /n /n - Identifies all patients
properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal
protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and
assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols
for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient
history in electronic record as required /n - Demonstrates the
ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and
concise manner and explain procedures to help allay the patient's
fears and solicit their cooperation /n - Demonstrates a strong
ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while
displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
Able to work as team member within the department and all other
departments to expedite patient care efficiently /n - Maintains
point of care testing standards, including daily quality control,
for devices used for procedures. /n - Provides stand by call
coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by
call procedure/policy. /n - Administers contrast under the
direction of the procedure physician. /n - Demonstrates competency
in functioning in the first assist position. /n - Fosters an
environment that supports aseptic technique during procedures and
patient safety with the incorporation of a time-out process. /n -
Practices with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as
well as others in the procedure room including appropriate use of
lead shielding and monitoring devices. Assures documentation of
patient radiation exposure in electronic record. /n - Demonstrate
proper positioning and appropriate radiographic techniques for all
diagnostic and interventional procedures. Exhibits a clear
understanding of correct patient preparation, equipment operations
and patient monitoring systems. /n - Support other departments as
directed or assigned. Must demonstrate a basic knowledge of the
operation of both equipment and supplies. /n - Some
responsibilities may not be applicable due to specific job
locations. /n - Ensures all images within his/her area of
responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS, and
are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for
archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered
for the procedures performed. Maintains continuing education and
competency requirements for position. /n Graduate of an ARRT
approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive
Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) or Invasive Cardiovascular
Specialist (RCIS) certification or certified/licensed as a
Paramedic in the state of Pennsylvania with current credentialing
maintained. Bachelor of Science in health care related filed
accepted but not required. Licensure, Certifications, and
Clearances: ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist or RCIS as
a Cardiovascular Specialist or certified/licensed as a Paramedic in
the state of Pennsylvania is required. CPR certification is
required. ACLS certification is desired upon hire. Successful
completion of ACLS certification required within orientation
period. New graduates have 1 year to obtain their board
certification. /n /n - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) can be
obtained as part of orientation process. /n - Basic Life Support
(BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) can be obtained as
part of orientation process. /n - Paramedic OR Radiologic
Technologist OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist /n - Act 34 /n /n
