The staff at Stream Valley Veterinary Hospital work to ensure that each patient receives the quality care we would want for our own pets. Additionally, we strive to treat each of our clients as team members when it comes to pet healthcare. Our doctors and technicians work closely with area practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. Among services we offer our clients and their pets are in-house digital dental x-ray capabilities and ultrasound diagnostics, in-house digital x-ray capabilities, an in-house surgical suite, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking and exercise areas. We understand the busy lives that our clients lead and as such our on-site veterinary boarding, daycare, and grooming facilities; well-stocked pharmacy and prescription diet supply; and regular dog obedience classes makes Stream Valley Veterinary Hospital their one-stop pet healthcare headquarters. At Stream Valley, we endeavor not only to offer sound, accepted advice on a variety of subjects, but also to provide optimal veterinary care. This helps our patients enjoy as long and comfortable a life with their families as possible. We are looking for a dedicated veterinarian to join our family who is passionate and dedicated to the profession, and who treats animals as if they are their own with Flexible scheduling and work-life balance so you can enjoy all that Northern Virginia has to offer. Job Responsibilities: Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries. Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds,performing surgery, or other therapies. Inoculate animals against various diseases. Collect body tissue, feces, blood, urine, or other body fluids for examination and analysis. Perform laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests, including parasitology, hematology and urinalysis. Operate diagnostic equipment, such as radiographic and ultrasound equipment, and interpret the resulting images. Administer anesthetics, perform surgery, and monitor patients during surgery and recovery with the assistance of the technical team. Follow discharge guidelines for hospitalized and post surgery patients and treatment plan guidelines for clients to ensure proper patient treatment in the home environment including client follow up post hospitalization. Answer client questions and provide education on various aspects of animal care and treatment. Advise animal owners regarding sanitary measures, feeding, and general care necessary to promote health of their pets. Educate the public about diseases that can be spread from animals to humans. Call back/follow-up with clients; recommend medical progress visits when appropriate. Humanely euthanize animals when it has been mutually agreed upon by the patient's owner. Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs and patient records. Train and supervise team members who handle and care for animals; as needed. Deal with clients and employees in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism. Provide guidance and leadership to the healthcare team that will positively influence the level of care and service provided to the clients and patients of Stream Valley Veterinary Hospital Perform other duties assigned.
