Core Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Responsible for contributing to annual budget planning, additionally, making proposals addressing process and system improvements as well as informing the architecture, development, product and business development teams of the performance and behavior of deployed products.

The Director of DevOps Engineering will have responsibility and oversight of Somos vendor partners who support the DevOps tools and environments, including driving system and environmental planning and review of work to ensure high quality deliverables.

• Responsible for DevOps engineering platform architecture design, building reusable infrastructure tools with self-service capabilities, improving, and providing an exceptional developer experience and productivity, and, with automation to ensure high availability of the business applications
• Provide Zero touch Platform provisioning and CI/CD to Production
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams that include Engineering, CloudOps, System Engineering and Product management to deliver best in class solutions
• Responsible for setting goals, mentoring, and providing direction for, and providing leadership in both technological and career perspective to a team of DevOps engineers
• Responsible for the development, quality, and completeness of the Release Management Framework for Somos' technology tools
• Responsible for the development, quality, and completeness of the Service Reliability Framework for Somos' portfolio
• Collaboratively, prioritize DevOps engineering work efforts across environments, initiatives, and portfolio
• Participate and support as needed for architecture, design, integration, and testing efforts on any projects and products
• Partner with AWS account management for issue resolution and planning
• As part of FinOps, track and monitor cloud usage for all Somos products, and partner with leads from various teams and departments for cost-value assessment and cost containment strategies Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
  • 10+ years of IT software industry experience, with a minimum 7+ years of hands-on, building & running DevOps infrastructure, and 5+ years managing a team of DevOps engineers
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Information Systems, Business Operations, Computer Science or equivalent desired
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving skills, strong leadership and team building experience with ability to work effectively, efficiently, and collaboratively in cross-functional organization that reflects Somos' core values and culture
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, influential leadership, and communications skills - must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization in multiple formats (spoken, written, media)
  • Flexibility within a fast-paced, constant change, multi-tasking environment with the ability to engage in process improvement
  • Solid hands-on scripting, coding, troubleshooting and technical problem analysis skills for automation required
  • Ability to move with emerging technologies and information
  • Experience in Cloud native architecture principles
  • Experience in delivering PaaS/ DevOps in Telecommunication, Hi-Tech industry
  • Experience in Docker or similar container technology
  • Experience in Container orchestration tools eg: Kubernetes, Rancher, AKS
  • Experience in Infrastructure automation tools eg: Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, AWS CDK
  • Experience in CI/CD tools eg: CodeFresh
  • Experience in Log aggregation tools such as Splunk, ELK
  • Experience in Enterprise monitoring tools eg: DataDog
  • Experience in shift left DevSecOps with tools eg: Twistlock, Gitflow, Codacy, AWS Trusted Advisor/Systems Manager/Inspector/GuardDuty
  • Experience in website, network synthetic monitoring tools eg: Catchpoint
  • Experience designing, integrating and managing complex infrastructure solutions
  • Experience in the evaluation of COTS solutions as well as "Build vs. Buy vs. Outsource" decisions
  • Experience identifying and driving continuous improvements and innovation within a portfolio of solutions
  • Significant experience with high throughput, low latency, highly available transaction processing applications
  • Proven experience leveraging AWS (or other cloud provider) to deliver mission critical applications Preferred Qualifications & Skills (if any):
    • Familiarity with telecommunications industry strongly preferred
