The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FME) Directorate is responsible for laboratory space, administrative space, infrastructure, campus landscape, planning, design, and construction management at Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research. JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the preventative maintenance, installing, repairing, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical services, circuits, systems, fixtures, controls, and equipment. KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES Performs industrial electrical work on such items as incineration, fluorescent and germicidal fixtures, generating equipment and controls, scientific equipment, solid state electronic sensing controls and solid-state motor controls Works on equipment carrying up to 600 VAC Assisting with the Electrical Preventative Maintenance for the site Visits worksites to assist in developing work plans, time requirements, power sources and the need for branch circuits, outlets and additional electrical fixtures Installs lines, outlet boxes, fuse panels and related electrical equipment Maintains and repairs electrical laboratory and technical equipment Occasionally working beyond normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays Will be required to be a part of a rotational on call schedule for emergency calls Contributes to the overall success of Operation and Maintenance Department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned BASIC QUALIFICATIONS To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: Possession of a high school diploma. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required This position is considered safety-sensitive and will be subject to random drug testing per the Leidos Biomedical Research Drug Free Workplace Program Must have and maintain a valid State Driver's License issued by the state in which the candidate resides.
