features.Job DescriptionBAE Systems, Inc. is currently looking for
a Cyber Security Engineer / Information Systems Security Engineer
(ISSE) to join an innovative team in Washington, DC. This position
supports the development of mission-critical applications for a
federal government client focused on national security.The ISSE
will be part of a team that supports mission-critical applications
with both obtaining and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO)
in accordance with the customers Office of the Chief Information
Officer (OCIO) security policies. The ISSE will collaborate with
stakeholders across the enterprise and support the latest security
initiatives, proactively implementing innovative security solutions
to enhance enterprise capability for the workforce.Major Duties
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure security
engineering initiatives align with operational needs.
- Interact with technical leads, developers, and system owners to
ensure ATO security packages comply with FISMA and NIST
guidelines.
- Provide security artifacts and evidence for system security
control questions.
- Review system security audit logs and take corrective actions
as needed.
- Perform security monitoring and evaluation, including audits,
control assessments, and creating security alerts using tools like
Splunk or Defender for Cloud.
- Update technical security guides and diagrams for
mission-critical systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current security trends and
technologies, and think forward to support organizational security
and technical strategy.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related
field.
- 10 years of experience in software engineering, program design,
implementation, configuration management, or system
engineering.
- 5 years of experience in system security analysis, secure
system engineering, and protocol / interface standards.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with technical
and non-technical teams.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, MS Office, Linux (RHEL7 / 8),
Windows Server 2019 / 2022, and security tools like Tenable, Burp
Suite, Defender for Endpoint.
- Knowledge of NIST security controls, log management tools like
Azure EventHub and Splunk, and agile methodologies.
- Strong desire to learn and improve security processes.Pay and
