Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanics to maintain and repair a
fleet of heavy-duty vehicles, including transit coaches. The ideal
candidate has hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic
and electrical systems, and preventive maintenance procedures.
You'll ensure our vehicles remain safe, compliant, and operational
in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repair
Diagnose and repair issues involving diesel engines, air
conditioning, brakes, suspension, electrical, and fuel systems.
Conduct both in-shop and roadside repairs using diagnostic tools
(e.g., Cummins Insite, Allison Prognostics, VANSCO, DINEX).
Repair and service ADA equipment, fire suppression systems, and
safety components.
Perform upgrades or modifications per manufacturer and client
specifications.
Fabricate and install parts when needed; conduct road tests to
ensure proper performance.
Preventive Maintenance
Perform scheduled maintenance inspections based on mileage and time
intervals.
Use standardized checklists to document all work and ensure coach
compliance.
Corrective Maintenance
Use schematics, manuals, and test equipment to verify and correct
issues.
Maintain detailed records of parts used, labor performed, and
diagnostics.
Requirements:
3-5 years of progressive experience in heavy equipment or diesel
maintenance.
High School diploma or GED required; post-secondary technical
training preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and work on top of vehicles.
Proficient with diagnostic computer equipment and technical
documentation.
Valid driver's license; ability to obtain a VA Commercial Driver's
License.
Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and
physical exam.
Flexible to work in a 24/7 environment with varying shifts.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of diesel engine and hydraulic systems.
Understanding of braking systems, electrical schematics, and safety
protocols.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management
abilities.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision in a
high-volume setting.
