The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space and Launch
Division, is seeking a Lead Network Design Engineer (Level 4) to
join our team in Herndon, VA. The Space and Launch Team creates the
next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We
work with proprietary customers in the development of the
next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid
prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies

The Lead Network Design Engineer will support a proprietary program
in the Northern Virginia area. This program is dynamic and
exciting, providing the opportunity to work within and learn a
broad range of engineering disciplines. This role will focus on
translating customer needs into detailed requirements for system
integrated design including system/data architecture, facility
design, hardware selection, software selection/development, system
integration, testing and operations/maintenance. As the Lead
Network Design Engineer, you will work in a dynamic team
environment and collaborate with several types of engineering
disciplines to execute tasks on-quality and on-time.
- Leads the identification, analysis and documentation of
requirements for both classified and unclassified network transport
technologies and services (e.g., voice, video, data) based on
customer goals, objectives, cost and security constraints.
- Leads and organizes the creation and documentation of designs
that conform to architectural and security standards, to meet
customer requirements, using industry best practices and
- Prepares and deploys complex implementation packages per Boeing
- Leads the performance of complex preventative, proactive and
reactive maintenance in order to meet service restoration and
network availability objectives, using network analysis and
- Researches, develops, documents and deploys emerging
technologies and techniques, determining proper integration into
existing systems to meet customer needs, as directed.
- Leads and coordinates implementation planning for
multi-technology insertion projects, using established project
management methodologies for the purpose of controlling costs and
ensuring adherence to project plan. Work Authorization:
This position requires an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A
U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months
is considered active.). This position is contingent on clearance
verification and customer concurrence.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an
accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science,
mathematics, or physics.
- Security+ certification.
- Experience working with maintenance of Cisco switches, routers,
wireless, command line interface and network protocols.
- 3 years or more of experience leading network security
infrastructure (Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Access Control Lists)
projects. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Current CCNP, CCNA and/or CISSP Certification.
- Experience writing scripts to collect network device status and
to perform software upgrades.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Experience in Project management skills.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with COMSEC equipment. Typical Education &
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical
education from an accredited course of study in engineering,
computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor)
and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an
equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work
experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred,
although not required, accreditation standard.

Virginia Summary pay range: Min: $128,350 - Max: $173,650
