We are looking for a Data Center Controls Engineer global technical
leader with hands on control automation experience. As we grow, we
are structuring our team to own more of our engineering in house.
In this role you will work with the Senior Global Engineers to
drive the standardization of designs across the global region in
production data centers and resolve open technical issues in the
controls space. As part of the team, you will work with highly
motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You
will drive multiple projects, including mult-imillion dollar
controls deployments and retrofitting legacy buildings. Utilizing
Amazon Leadership Principles, you will develop new processes or
standards and test new innovations in the controls space. You will
participate in the research and development of new technologies and
designs applicable to our products or services. You will be also
responsible for writing technical documentation for such projects.
You must be capable of defining critical equipment specifications
and approving equipment submittals. You will be relied on as a
subject matter expert in the controls engineering field. At Amazon,

Amazon has a global presence. Travel will be necessary but
shouldn't be more than 30%. International support will be part of
the job, and some international travel will be necessary. Support
could consist of working on international teams and could require
developing schematic and design document packages. An understanding
of international electrical design requirements is preferable.
Responsibilities of the Principal Controls Engineer
The Senior Principal Engineering will provide technical leadership
to design and field engineering as well as operations and
deployment teams. The controls engineer will be responsible for the
-- Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer
goals into well-defined, achievable, and testable specifications
-- Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines,
cultures, and countries.
-- Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design
specifications, technical papers, wiring schematics and diagrams,
-- Development of strategic solutions which meet or exceed our
quality requirements and fall within our budgetary
-- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the
appropriate systems and equipment.
-- Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE's),
including participation in deep dives, investigations, and
development of recommended mitigation plans.
-- Maintain and host technical controls theory and design forums to
provide a collaborative environment for development of datacenter
control systems. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS -- Bachelor's degree in
Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC,
or other related engineering degree.
-- 10+ years of experience with electrical diagrams, control
diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial
-- Minimum 2 years of experience with one or more of the following

Controls/Trend] [Schneider Electric: PowerLogic/Struxureware]
[Rockwell Automation: FactoryTalk, Tridium Niagra] [Eaton:
Foreseer] [ABB: Decathalon] [Johnson Controls: Metasys Power User
Level Windows Skill Set] PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -- Master's
degree or higher in electrical engineering.
-- 15+ years of experience directly related to data center or
mission critical facility design.
-- In depth understanding of critical data center electrical and

complex technical issues.

methods of data center equipment and facilities.

maintenance of data centers.

significant upgrade projects.
